Petra Ptáčková creates garments that move, shift, and evolve, designed for those who live on the edge of structure and spontaneity. Each piece is rooted in radical craftsmanship and shaped through an instinctive yet meticulous process, where materials exceed expectations with sustainability at the core of every decision.
Focusing on designing systems, her work ensures adaptability — garments are not merely worn, but actively collaborated with and reshaped by each wearer. Petra Ptáčková’s practice forms a wearable ecosystem for those who resist stillness.
After studying at the prestigious École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, she completed her Master’s degree in Knitwear CKD Master under the supervision of Deanna Ferretti Veroni. Since then, she has rarely reached for new materials. Everything is created from discarded stock, upcycled fabrics, or custom-made textiles produced by Petra herself, again using sustainably sourced, ideally local materials.
By merging her second profession as a stunt performer with a fantastical worldview inspired by nature, she has developed her own distinctively graceful, utilitarian-artistic aesthetic, for which she has adopted the term “magical realism.”
She has presented her work in showrooms during Paris Fashion Week, FashionClash Maastricht, Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam, and in Madrid. During Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week 2014, she was approached by buyers from the Doshaburi boutique in Barcelona, followed by boutiques such as H. Lorenzo LA, Permanent Modern Tokyo, Kniq Hong Kong, Fluorescence Showroom Tokyo, H.P. France NYC, and Oficina Gabardine Amsterdam.
